October 19^, 2022: The Council of EU Chambers of Commerce in India (EU Chamber) along with Salalah Free Zone organized a seminar on “Business Opportunities in Salalah Free Zone- Oman” at the Convention Hall, 4^th Floor, Y.B. Chavan Centre, Mumbai.

The seminar was graced by the presence of the guest of honour Mr. Badar Al Wahaibi, Vice Consul General, Consulate General of The Sultanate of Oman. The speaker for the session was Mr. Mohsin Al Wahaibi, Senior Business Development Manager, Salalah Free Zone.

Dr. Renu Shome, Director, The Council of EU Chambers of Commerce in India, formally welcomed and thanked the esteemed guests and dignitaries. She educated the attendees on the activities of the Chamber and also emphasized on the progressive EU- Oman trade relations. She mentioned that EU is Oman’s 6^th trading partner and Oman is EU’s 65^th trading partner. Mentioning about the relations between India and Oman she said that India and Oman are linked by geography, history and culture and enjoy warm and cordial relations.

Mr. Mohsin Al Wahaibi, Senior Business Development Manager, Salalah Free Zone, elaborated the business opportunities available at the Salalah free zone. He explained the benefits offered by Salalah namely no taxes on profits/ dividends for 30 years, zero custom duties on imports and exports, attractive incentives, strategic locations like the equatorial trade route, one stop shop services etc. He encouraged the participants to explore and benefit from the opportunities offered by Salalah to various businesses.

The seminar witnessed an interactive Q&A session and was largely attended by the members of the Chambers from the logistics, import-export and manufacturing sector.
