Prof. Dr. Uday Salunkhe is the Group Director, Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research (WeSchool). He is recipient of the prestigious Eisenhower Fellowship, USA, which acknowledges and honours the contribution of thought leaders across the globe to their respective domains, bringing them together, for a greater impact.

Dr. Salunkhe’s passion for leadership, design thinking and innovation has helped Weschool carve itself a niche in the space of management education.

As a visionary leader, he is actively associated with universities and educational authorities at the state and national level to improve the quality of management education. Under his leadership, WeSchool has been a front runner for pioneering courses in Healthcare, Business Design, E-business, Retail Management, Research & Business Analytics, Rural Management and Media & Entertainment.

Prof. Uday Salunkhe has constantly been innovating and focusing on bringing in the best international practices and real-time industry-academia interaction to the students and faculty at WeSchool. A lover of adventure sport and especially trekking, he believes in experiential learning methods such as out-bound programs and theater workshops among other activities, which can teach important management principles.  His hobbies also include listening and singing old songs, playing chess and cricket.

He is actively associated with universities and educational bodies at the national and international level to improve the quality of management education. He has initiated several international partnerships with universities across the globe in Sweden, Israel, UK, Dubai, Germany, and Netherlands.

Dr Salunkhe is part of FICCI Higher Education Committee and has chaired the Assocham’s National Council on Education, CII’s Sub-committee on Education.

He is Chairman – Education Committee of The Council of EU Chambers of Commerce in India

Dr. Salunkhe has been the Chairman of the Local Managing Committee, Association of Management Development Institutions in South Asia (AMDISA). Also he has been the member of the executive committee of the same. He has been the President of Association of Indian Management Schools (AIMS) and National HRD Network (NHRDN), Mumbai Chapter.  He has been the State Governor’s nominee to the Senate of University of Mumbai.

Dr Salunkhe has visited Sweden as a scholar under the Swedish Linnaeus Palme Program which aims at strengthening the cooperation between institutions of higher education of the two countries.

Some of the achievements Dr Salunkhe has been honoured with include –

• ‘Longest Serving Director Award 2019’ in recognition of his outstanding leadership and contribution to the field of Education at the 3^rd ASMA Annual Convention & Awards presented by the Academy of Indian Marketing (AIM) and Adoption of Social Media in Academia (ASMA).
• The ‘Best Education Entrepreneur of the year’ award, for his outstanding and visionary contribution towards establishing and developing WeSchool as a Centre of excellence.
• The “Grand Davos Award” at the World Communication Forum, Davos 2014, for his contribution and lifelong dedication to the field of business communication in India and the region
• Ravi J. Matthai National Fellow Award by AIMS for his exemplary contribution to India Inc. and society at large, in the fields of applied management and education.

Also he has been a visiting fellow at the Harvard Business School, USA and the European University, Germany. Dr Salunkhe has been a guide to number of research scholars and has to his credit an array of research papers, articles, books and case studies in national and international publications.
